Discontinued means the manufacturer has stopped producing new units and is winding down support. Your existing devices keep working — it's a planning signal, not a shutdown date. Current models are still in active production.

Zebra's scanner line turns over more slowly than its mobile computers, and several long-running models (the LS2208 among them) are still in production rather than discontinued. Still running discontinued hardware?
Discontinued isn't the same as unusable. Plenty of operations run end-of-life devices for years after the announcement, sourcing used units as spares instead of forcing a migration on the manufacturer's schedule. The practical questions are whether your OS version still meets your security requirements, and whether you can still get replacement units and parts when something breaks.

Frequently asked questions
What replaced the Zebra TC52 and TC57?
The TC53 replaced the TC52 and the TC58 replaced the TC57. Those have since been refreshed again as the TC53e and TC58e, which are the current models in that family.
What replaced the Honeywell CK65?
The Honeywell CK67 replaced the CK65, which reached end-of-life on April 1, 2026. The CK65 itself was the drop-in replacement for the older CK3R, CK3X, CK71, CK75, CN75, and CV41.
