When corded (DS4608) makes sense
If the scanner lives at a fixed station — a checkout counter, a packing bench, a receiving desk — a corded scanner is simpler, has no battery to manage, and typically costs less. The DS4608 also offers the widest imager selection, including the HD high-density option for challenging barcodes.
When cordless (DS4678) makes sense
If the operator needs to move around — scanning items at varying distances, walking a small area, or working without being tethered to a workstation — the DS4678's Bluetooth cordless design and 13+ hour battery life removes the cord as a constraint.
